In the thriller movie genre, lighting is another key feature to make the film more tense. Thriller movies usually focus on low-key lighting as low-key lets you know the least about a scene which allows the producers to add twists from more directions. The dark is also known for being mysterious which is why most shots are taken in either low lighting or in the dark.
